Useful Software
Over many years we have seen some pretty neat software tools and a lot of them produced by fellow Oracle/UNIX Administrators. At TRU (UK) we find them useful and use repeatedly. If you find a tool we should know about, let us know.

A software tool produced by Net2000 Ltd, which is the only decent one we know of that can produce referentially correct subsets of large databases. Really useful when you need to produce UAT environments with up-to-date correct data

If you've got CA, BMC, HP-Openview, etc and only use them for monitoring and alerting, then you may not want to check this out.

BB4 have produced one of the best system monitoring tools we know of. It's all browser based, has hooks into most alerting packages and monitors just about anything you tell it to. It's also got hooks in know for Oracle and SAP.
