At TRU (UK), we believe
good advice is all about helping you achieve your database
administration objectives. Remote DBAs falls directly
in line with TRU (UK)'s management philosophy of putting
our clients' long-term well-being first. After consultations
with clients we will advise the client on the most appropriate
way forward. If TRU (UK) cannot offer the solution a client
requires, we will be honest and truthful and advise accordingly.
TRU (UK)'s clients are extremely diverse.
They represent numerous industries and come in all shapes
and sizes. Each customer has a different set of needs.
Some of our clients have a large number
of databases, who have numerous feeds and processes.
TRU (UK) advises such clients to have DBAs onsite, TRU (UK)
can complements these DBAs, however from experience,
we would not recommend having such databases managed
remotely.
The clients whose databases we recommend
to be managed remotely are Oracle Databases that have
been bedded down, whose activity, growth and backup solutions
have been tested and proved. We can offer both normal
working day and out of hours support.
TRU (UK) uses its own monitoring software,
however if a client already has a monitoring solution
present, TRU (UK) can utilise this. Obviously connectivity
to the databases or E-mail access is required in order
for TRU (UK) to offer this service.
Remote DBA is a proactive service, any problems
will be identified, we will advise the client on the
issue, TRU (UK) can either perform the necessary maintenance
or advise the client's own DBAs on the course of action.
TRU (UK) will also liase with Oracle Worldwide
Support on the behalf of the client; TRU (UK) will log
problems on the client's behalf, as well as advising
on new versions and patches of the Software.
TRU (UK) will actively monitor the clients
Oracle Databases and produce two weekly reports that
are dispatched by E-mail.
